Professor Alena Herklotz, Executive Director

Professor Alena Herklotz is Executive Director of the SHRI, and Senior Fellow with the Sustainable Development Legal Initiative (SDLI) of the Leitner Center for International Law and Justice at Fordham Law School. She joined the Leitner Center as a Centennial Fellow in 2006-2007, during which she was also a Legal Fellow at the Commission on Legal Empowerment of the Poor. At Fordham, Professor Herklotz teaches in the International Law and Development in Africa (ILDA) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) clinics, and the international environmental law curriculum. She has written in the fields of sustainable development and international environmental law and supports SDLI’s many capacity building, research and scholarship activities, particularly in Ghana, West Africa, where she has led projects on inter alia renewable energy regulation, customary law reporting, and legal capacity building for carbon markets.
